Maternity & Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist
I am Maria, a Maternity and Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist. My areas of expertise include overall female health and in particular women ́s health during and after pregnancy. I provide advice regarding various bodily changes during pregnancy and offer help with preparing women for childbirth. In the postnatal period, I specialize in pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic pain and in the rehabilitation of diastasis recti. In addition to women, I also treat babies and children. My passion for women ́s health issues derives from my own experiences during the postnatal years.
During pregnancy, a woman's body goes through enormous changes, both physically and mentally, due to hormonal activity and weight gain. These changes bring new challenges into focus. For both, the mumand baby to remain healthy during pregnancy, it is important that the mum looks after her well-being, and I am there to support mums throughout.
Pregnancy requires a lot from the female body: as you prepare for childbirth, your core needs to be strong and resilient, yet flexible, but it also must have the ability to relax. In the postpartum period, the body must recalibrate once more, as the centre of balance shifts yet once again, and the mum needs to find a way to adjust to it. What I do,is help mums find the right exercises and treatment options for their individual needs in the different stages of pregnancy and postpartum period.
Throughout the process, what holds most value for me, is that that everyone I work with, feels that they are seen, heard, and accepted.
