Sustainability at Lola&Lykke
Sustainability at Lola&Lykke is not a separate initiative or a marketing promise. It is a practical, everyday way of working that shapes how we design products, partner with suppliers, support mothers, and grow our business responsibly.
From women’s health and social impact to environmental responsibility and ethical governance, we are committed to creating long-term value for families and the planet.
Our Sustainability Approach
Since founding Lola&Lykke in 2018, sustainability has been an integral part of how we operate and make decisions. Our approach continues to evolve as our business grows, guided by clear priorities, measurable targets, and continuous improvement across our value chain.
We focus on the areas where we can create the most meaningful impact and work closely across teams, partners, and stakeholders to turn intent into action.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to improve how breastfeeding and postpartum care are delivered to women. We do this by combining thoughtfully designed products, healthcare partnerships, and personalised support that empower mothers during some of life’s most important moments.
As a women-led company, women’s wellbeing sits at the centre of our decisions, extending our responsibility beyond commercial success and into lasting social impact.

Enviroment
We are committed to minimising our environmental footprint across product design, packaging, logistics, and operations. Our focus is on reducing emissions, preventing plastic pollution, and using resources responsibly, while continuously improving our processes and outcomes.
From 2024 onwards, Lola&Lykke has implemented a strategy to become a net-zero company, with the goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Our approach prioritises absolute emissions reductions rather than relying on offsets. We regularly measure and monitor emissions across our operations and have set a clear annual reduction target of 10% below the previous baseline year. For emissions that cannot yet be eliminated, we use responsible, verified offsetting mechanisms while continuing to focus on long-term structural reductions.
We apply a low-impact logistics strategy that prioritises the most environmentally responsible transport methods available. This includes avoiding air freight wherever possible, optimising shipping routes, and working closely with logistics partners to reduce emissions across our supply chain. We continuously measure and monitor the environmental impact of logistics to support data-driven improvements over time.
We take a circular approach to packaging design, aiming to minimise waste and optimise the use of resources across the entire packaging value chain. Wherever possible, we use recyclable cardboard packaging and eliminate non-essential plastic components. Currently, 95% of our packaging materials are recyclable, and our goal is to reach 100% recyclable packaging by the end of 2027. Our long-term ambition is to ensure that none of our packaging ends up in landfill or as litter.
Lola&Lykke is committed to reducing plastic pollution and taking responsibility for the plastic used in our products. In partnership with CleanHub, we fund waste collection and waste management systems in areas most affected by mismanaged plastic waste. For every product sold, we collect an equivalent amount of plastic from the environment.
Our work focuses on the Java Sea and surrounding coastal communities in Indonesia, in collaboration with our collection partner GOT BAG and a network of more than 2,000 local fishermen. Our annual plastic recovery target is 7,500 kg. Collected plastic is sorted and directed to appropriate recycling or recovery solutions, helping reduce ocean pollution while supporting local livelihoods.

Social Impact
Improving access to quality maternal care is at the heart of our sustainability work. Through healthcare partnerships, research, education, and community support, we aim to strengthen systems that support women and families before, during, and after pregnancy.
Supporting women’s health and wellbeing is central to Lola&Lykke’s purpose and sustainability work. We focus on improving access to quality maternal and postnatal care through thoughtfully designed products, evidence-based education, and trusted support. Our work aims to strengthen care pathways for women before, during, and after pregnancy, helping to build more accessible and mum-centric care models.
We work closely with public healthcare systems, universities, and maternal health experts to help bridge gaps in existing care structures. This includes collaboration with organisations such as the NHS and the Helsinki Hospital Region, as well as long-term partnerships with Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. Together, we support education, research, and clinical trials focused on improving the wellbeing of pregnant and postpartum women, with research results scheduled for publication in 2026.
Community involvement is a cornerstone of our social impact work. We actively support maternal health organisations through financial contributions, product donations, and long-term partnerships. In addition, we create opportunities for volunteering, internships, and student collaboration, and contribute to education and awareness initiatives together with healthcare experts and maternal health advocates.
People & Workplace
We believe sustainable businesses start with people. We support our employees through inclusive practices, wellbeing initiatives, and low-impact ways of working that reflect our values as a remote-first organisation committed to equality and responsibility.
As a remote-first organisation, Lola&Lykke places strong emphasis on reducing the environmental impact of everyday work. We incentivise the use of public transport, support virtual collaboration to reduce the need for travel, and encourage responsible waste management practices in both office and home-office environments. We also promote sustainable commuting and support practical actions that help employees minimise their environmental footprint in daily working life.
We are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive working environment where people are treated fairly and with dignity. Our approach supports equality, wellbeing, and equal opportunity across the organisation, with a strong focus on gender equality and supportive working practices. As a women-led company, we place particular emphasis on creating an environment where everyone can thrive and contribute meaningfully.

Our due diligence process includes human rights policies, impact assessments, performance monitoring, and clear actions to address any identified risks. This approach helps ensure that our products are made responsibly and that the people involved in their production are treated fairly and with respect.
