The Association for Finnish Work has granted Lola&Lykke’s online shop the Key Flag symbol in recognition of a Finnish online shop that operates and employs people in Finland.
Lola&Lykke is a Finnish maternity brand built by mums, for mums. Through our online shop, we deliver award-winning health and wellbeing products to families in Finland and around the world. Our company is proudly founded and headquartered in Finland, where we manage our core operations, product development, and customer service, while also working with international partners to ensure smooth global deliveries.
The Key Flag symbol is a sign of Finnish work. The primary criterion for granting the symbol is that the online shop must be a Finnish-owned company serving customers from Finland, with its operations and deliveries based in Finland. In addition, the domestic content of the online shop must be at least 50 per cent of its break-even cost.
“We are incredibly proud to receive the Key Flag symbol for our online shop. Lola&Lykke was born out of a passion to support mothers with reliable, high-quality products designed here in Finland.
Finland is famous for the baby box that every mum receives before giving birth. It is such a wonderful tradition, created to provide essential items for life with a newborn. Yet the box I received the year I gave birth to my son only had one item for mums, a small bottle of lubricant. For me, that moment made it so clear how much more needs to be done to support mothers everywhere. Lola&Lykke was created to change that.
We are proud of our Finnish roots and values, and our mission is to share that same Nordic quality, innovation and care with mothers all over the world.” says Laura McGrath, Mum of Two & Co-Founder of Lola&Lykke
The Key Flag symbol is widely recognised in Finland. According to a study by Finnish Work, nearly all business executives and consumers know the symbol. A total of 68 per cent of Finns say that the Key Flag has a positive influence on their purchase decisions, and up to 77 per cent would rather buy from domestic than foreign online shops. Still, nearly half (47 per cent) feel it can be difficult to distinguish domestic online shops from foreign ones.
Customer Relationship Manager Nina Pohjoiskoski from Finnish Work emphasises that the Key Flag symbol is a clear way to communicate the Finnish nature of an online shop to customers:
“A purchase decision from an online shop is also a value judgement that promotes employment, competitiveness and wellbeing. Not only does a Finnish online shop employ people in Finland, it is also often a more trustworthy option than a foreign one. Unfortunately, many foreign online shops are fraudulent websites that may collect payment details or sell products that do not exist. Some of these have been disguised to look Finnish, which makes it difficult for the consumer to identify their origin. When buying from a Finnish shop, customers benefit from Finnish consumer protection, a familiar language and clear return policies.” says Pohjoiskoski.
“Consumers associate the Key Flag symbol with domestic quality, reliability, safety and employment. The Key Flag enables companies to communicate important values to their customers and other stakeholders. A total of 94 per cent of Key Flag companies state that the symbol supports the sales of their products and services.” Pohjoiskoski continues.
For Lola&Lykke, the Key Flag is more than just a symbol; it’s a reflection of our heritage and values. We are proud to be a Finnish-founded company and the only maternity brand in Finland designing and producing breast pumps. In addition, our maternity and postpartum support bands proudly carry the Design from Finland mark, showcasing our dedication to user-centred, expert-led Finnish design.
Our roots keep us grounded in Nordic quality and reliability, while our vision is global: to make everyday life easier and more empowering for mums everywhere. By combining Finnish design with international reach, we aim to ensure that mothers around the world feel supported at every stage of their journey.
