Simple Pumping, Simple Storage
Ready When You Are
Not sure yet how often you'll pump? That's completely normal.
Many mums buy a breast pump before birth without knowing exactly what their feeding journey will look like. The Manual Breast Pump Starter Set gives you a simple way to begin, with both a pump and milk storage solution included from day one.
No charging. No complicated setup. Just the essentials you need to get started and figure out what works for you.
From Pumping to Storage in One Step
The early weeks with a newborn can feel like a constant cycle of feeding, expressing, storing and starting again.
That's why we've paired our Manual Breast Pump with pre-sterilised milk storage bags that connect directly to the pump using the included adapter.
Fewer transfers, fewer dishes and fewer things to think about when your hands are already full.
The Manual Breast Pump Starter Set is a great option for mums who want a simple way to start pumping without committing to an electric pump right away.
It's particularly popular in the early postpartum weeks, for occasional pumping, travel, or as a backup pump to keep on hand. With both the pump and milk storage bags included, you'll have everything you need to pump and store milk from day one.
Yes. The included milk storage bags are compatible with the Lola&Lykke Smart Electric Breast Pump. This means you can continue using the same storage bags if you decide to switch to an electric pump later on.
A manual breast pump is operated by hand, allowing you to control the rhythm and suction yourself. It doesn't require charging, batteries, or electricity, making it lightweight, quiet, and easy to take anywhere.
An electric breast pump automates the pumping rhythm and suction, which many mums find more convenient for frequent pumping sessions. The right choice depends on your feeding goals, pumping frequency, and personal preferences.
Our Smart Electric Breast Pump has nine suction levels, no tubes, and just five parts to clean. It’s built for regular use when you need consistency and less hands-on effort.
Assemble the pump by securely fitting all parts together, making sure the valve and silicone cup are correctly positioned.
Before first use and after every pumping session, wash all parts that come into contact with breast milk using warm water and a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly and allow everything to dry completely before reassembling.
The pump parts can be sterilised using your preferred sterilisation method according to the instructions provided with the product.
After pumping, seal the milk storage bag securely and label it with the date of expression. Using the included adapter, you can pump directly from the Manual Breast Pump into the storage bag, making it easy to go straight from pumping to storage without extra transfers.
Freshly expressed milk can be stored:
- In the fridge for up to 8 days at 4°C or lower (NHS guidance)
- In the freezer for up to 6 months
Yes. The milk storage bags are designed for freezer storage. If you want to freeze breast milk, fill the milk storage bottle or milk storage bag to no more than 3/4 full, leaving space for the milk to expand as it freezes. Lay the bags flat in the freezer to save space and speed up thawing, and do not store breast milk on the side of the refrigerator door.
To defrost, place the bag in the refrigerator overnight or run it under warm water (maximum 37°C). Do not microwave or boil breast milk, and never refreeze milk once it has been thawed.
Yes. The milk storage bags are pre-sterilised and ready to use straight out of the box. For hygiene and safety reasons, they are intended for single use only and should not be washed or reused.
Flange size should match your nipple, not your breast. A correct fit helps avoid discomfort and supports effective milk flow.
If the flange is too tight or too loose, pumping can feel uncomfortable or less efficient. Our manual pump includes two shield sizes (24 mm and 28 mm) with inserts (18 mm and 20 mm), so you can adjust the fit without needing to buy extras.
Yes. The milk storage bags are designed for pumping, storing, and feeding. Using the included adapter and a compatible bottle teat, you can feed directly from the same bag without transferring milk between containers. Please note that a teat is not included in the Starter Set.
Need a teat? Shop our NaturalFlow Bottle Teats to complete your feeding setup.
For many mums, yes. A manual breast pump can work well for occasional pumping, expressing milk for comfort, building a small milk stash, or introducing bottle feeds.
If you expect to pump frequently or exclusively, you may find an electric breast pump more convenient over time. Many mums start with a manual pump and later decide whether they need an electric option based on their feeding journey.
