Essential Under 50€ Christmas Gift ideas for the Mama in Your Life

Christmas is easily one of the busiest times for mums everywhere. Presents, foods, families and possibly a million other things demand attention. In short: if there ever was a better time to let the mum in your life know how much she means to you, now’s it!

Thoughtful gifts don’t need to cost you a lot, and below we’ve compiled a list of 9 wonderful gift ideas that don't break the bank to guarantee smiles on everyone’s face this Christmas!

Surprising mother with Christmas gift

DIY it this year

Sometimes you can make the best present yourself. Think on your conversations for the past wee while, maybe she’s dropped hints on what to do? Craft a card, gift baked goods, maybe even have a go at doing something bigger. Do you knit? Socks are good, especially in the colder climates!

Food hits differently

We already mentioned baked goods, but a gift hamper full of edible goodies can be an amazing gift! If you’re feeling less into packing a hamper, a voucher to mum’s favourite eatery could be in the cards for you. If you have a brand new mum, do you think they might appreciate some home-made, frozen meals? There’s a lot in this category, and if you just think ‘foods she likes’ you can’t go wrong!

If you have an expecting mama on the shopping list, one of the best things for nausea are these Ginger Melts from My Expert Midwife!

Visual memories

This is great for some people. Print out or order some photographs from all the good times together. If you want to make a bit more effort, consider filling out a photo book online, and if you enjoy handcrafting, maybe a scrapbook could be the way to go (if you’ve little to no experience here, it might be better for your stress levels to avoid too much handcrafting – it can get a bit stressful!!).

Help heal your mama

This includes anything and everything you can think of from skincare to mental and physical wellbeing. Adult colouring books might be the way to go, or maybe you’re more in line for No Harm Nipple Balm! You can also go to the local pharmacy and ask their opinion – or treat her to maternity physio! As long as you keep thinking “I’m getting this to help her heal,” well, you’re doing it right.

Something to read, maybe?

If you have a book lover on your hands, you might want to gift her a book on your radar! On our radar this year are The Modern Midwife's Guide to Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond written by our very own Modern Midwife Marie Louise, and DAD, a unique collection of 20 men’s stories about what their journey into fatherhood looked like.

Let her choose

If you are unsure, it’s always a good idea to ask if there’s anything your mama needs. Sometimes you couldn’t even think that she might need baby wipes or nipple cream – or something a bit more lux!

A gift card is always a good idea, especially when you are doubting what she might want the most. Grab our 25€, 50€, or 100€ gift card for those moments!

Subscriptions last a long time

If you want to take the idea of reading further, you might consider getting her a magazine or e-book subscription. These days you can get everything on subscription, so flowers, coffee or tea, or something snackable works too! Netflix gift card, anyone?

On-the-Go Happiness

This is where we might put the nice coffee cup on the list, but when’s the last time you actually saw her having a hot cuppa? I’ve a mum hack for you – grab the Lola&Lykke Stainless Steel Thermos Mug into your shopping bag for those busy days on the go. And it won’t spill either.

Pamper all the way

This one is a potential pick’n’mix! You can buy a ready-made hamper, get her favourite product, or make a small gift box yourself: body scrub, face mask, lotion, and salt or herbs for a nice foot bath. Fuzzy socks really pull this one together. Check out our bundles collection for a thoughtful gift for every budget, every mama!

Remember what really counts

While a bit overused, in the end, it's the thought that counts. Your mama will be happy because you remembered her - after all, that's how gifts work. We are happy when people remember us, have the time to sit down with us, and make memories with us. Because that's what it's about. Often the best present can be as simple as presence.
